Showing Respect Under the terms of the Joint Develoment Agreement between Shell and Anglo American, Anglo Coal will retain responsibility for the Mining Licence and Exploration Licence, and ultimately for mine development, in recognition of its expertise and Shell’s technological capabilities in developing the CTL process and production. In keeping with the practice established by the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, Monash Energy acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, their living culture, and the unique contribution they make to the life of the region. Monash Energy adheres to the statement of corporate policy
entitled Anglo Coal Australia and Aboriginal
People, which states: Anglo Coal Australia respects the traditions and cultures
of Aboriginal people. We fully recognise their rights and their special
relationship with their traditional lands. Our goal is to work in partnership
and close cooperation with the Aboriginal people of the areas in which
we operate, in a relationship of respect, understanding and trust.
We will actively promote the endorsement of this Policy by the business partners who share ownership of our businesses and by the contractors who share in their operation. The Mining Licence Application MIN5463 by Monash Energy of July 2006, has triggered a notification under Section 29(3) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth). Scans of this advertisement appear at left. |
